Quick answer

Prepare for the Terminid pressure pattern

Terminids compress space. Control the breach lane, remove mobile flankers before they surround the squad, and keep a repeatable anti-heavy answer ready so crowd tools do not have to solve armor.

Treat the Hive Lord as a mission decision, not an automatic boss phase

Arrowhead's September 3 design article describes a rare roaming threat that can burrow, deform terrain, project a large acid attack, and respond to ground disturbance and noise. Exact health, spawn difficulty, and one universal weak point are not stated.

  1. 01Is it blocking the primary objective or extraction?
  2. 02Can the route move onto safer ground or create distance?
  3. 03Can controlled noise or explosive pressure draw it away from the next interaction?
  4. 04If the squad fights, can it maintain coordinated pressure while controlling nearby Terminids?

Threat classes

Recognize the job before choosing the target

These groups describe decision pressure, not an exhaustive enemy-stat database.

Crowd control

Light swarm

Read the signal
Many low-profile enemies consuming ammunition and closing every open lane.
Respond
Use sustained fire or area denial without spending the squad's heavy answer.
Tracking & survival

Mobile flankers

Read the signal
Fast targets leaving the main wave and attacking from the side or rear.
Respond
Turn and remove them early; protect teammates locked into support-weapon reloads.
Mobility

Ranged and area pressure

Read the signal
Projectiles or hazardous zones forcing the squad out of a stable firing position.
Respond
Break sight lines, move laterally, and avoid stacking the squad in one lane.
Anti-heavy

Armored chargers

Read the signal
A fast heavy target disrupting formation and creating friendly-fire risk.
Respond
Call the target, create a clean firing lane, and use the designated anti-heavy tool instead of scattering.
Team coordination

Large battlefield threats

Read the signal
A high-priority enemy consuming the team's attention while a swarm continues underneath it.
Respond
Split roles: one or two players keep armor pressure while the rest protect them from the surrounding wave.
Field rules

Use repeatable decisions under pressure

Control the breach, not only the visible enemy

Area denial is most valuable where new pressure will enter, not after the group has already surrounded the squad.

Keep anti-heavy ammunition for armor

Let primary weapons and control stratagems own the swarm so the dedicated heavy answer is available when it matters.

Retreat sideways before retreating backward

A straight retreat can keep the squad inside the same pressure lane. Move toward an open flank and re-form.

Protect the reload

Backpack weapons are strongest when another player controls the light enemies or uses the more flexible assisted-reload system.

Avoid

Common faction mistakes

  • • Spending every heavy call-in on the first patrol.
  • • Standing inside the breach lane while using explosive weapons.
  • • Taking four crowd tools and assuming Thermite alone will solve every heavy wave.
  • • Continuing an optional fight after the objective route is open.
Unknown stays unknown

Verify exact armor and weak points in current data

This overview does not invent a numeric health, armor, or damage table. Use the in-game result and maintained reference for an exact enemy, and treat official patch notes as the version authority.
